And If I Had To Lift · 785 days ago

If something is almost should I like it anyway for the trying? Should I hate something that is a blood drawing near miss more than something that is just bad?
There are so many people out there, trying to make it. How can we tell what is good anymore? What is quality? Does it hit you over the head when you encounter it? I want to be accepting, to be nice, because if I was to create something, would my creations be even just bad, I’d perhaps like someone to be nice about them. But then again not, because what would be the point in putting deceiving salve on feelings and confusing our own sense of what is worthy. I do not want to be nice, I want to be harsh and unaccomodating and looking for perfection, but what if I have it wrong, completely missing the point? Criticism is so subjective, and we can’t please everyone at once.

And I create nothing.
EDIT:
Just read this long sentance. (Which is well worth the trouble if you like words. Thanks again Peter!) This partial stuck out to me:
let’s be honest here, anyway, and admit that there really aren’t that many original ideas or stories left to be expressed, so the manner of expression matters more and more,
and apply it to all forms of art. It is not quite that design is becoming more important than content.. And whose style shall reign? While the ideas are the same..
I’ll think about it, later.
(Just a side note, within the sentance I thought it a little contradictory to say that expression is mattering more and more then going on to say that a great number of years ago they were better at it. Or something. I still get the point, and anyway, I’m sure it’s all part of a mission to distract in order to extend the sentance, and for that I’m well amused.)

Because It Turns On · 868 days ago
On Sunday just past I (with the gracious help of my housemate) reformatted my laptop. Rather just reinstalling everything to its previous unpractical state of affairs, I’m trying a few new things out. Firefox (rather than IE) being the main, and most significant change at the moment. Getting used to clicking tabs up the top (I still don’t get the fuss about that). Integrating it with the programs I like, choosing components etc, is the main project of this week, and perhaps next as well. Not exactly the most exciting holiday project, but it needed to be done!
A few months ago I acquired an mp3cd of the complete Beatles albums. Today, now I’ve cranked up fb2k, I’m listening to Abbey Road as an album for the first time ever. And so far have recognised every single song.. How much The Beatles have sold seems an insignificant piece of trivia compared to the extent they have infiltrated the collective conciousness of our society!
I saw Yellow Submarine (was it just?) last week. Oh my, the bad puns! ...I liked it anyway, bit of fun really. It looks good; I’m interested to know what animation techniques they used, especially considering it was made in 1968. What tools were around then..might look it up sometime, time, time..
Have been working (boring job to pay rent work) a lot these holidays, at least it seems that way to me who hasn’t had a proper job before. Have found time to go to a couple of great gigs (Hi Peter :P). And a group of us walked up a mountain* Monday past, and got drowned on the way down. (Stay tuned for a couple of tinyphotos from.) I bought some tangellos, and I guess they do taste a little like tomatos, as unexotic as that is. The holidays are going too fast, I want more time, both to do things and to relax.
*not really a proper mountain, in mountain terms.
Which store/shop/place/s is/are good to buy a MiniDV Cam from?
- ...because it turns you on? Hoo baby.
Oh, not quite. Oh well :)
Hi right back at ya, C :P (and a poke of the tongue too)
